Job History

Since 1993, I have been teaching at the School of Management and Technology, Polytechnic Institute of Guarda, Portugal. I spent my first year in Portugal teaching at the American Language Institute in Oporto after a year teaching at the Asociación Cultural Hispano e Norte-Americana (ACHNA) fo the Fulbright Institute in Madrid, Spain.

While I was studying for my Masters at UC Davis, in addition to graduate student teaching in undergraduate EFL writing classes and specialized EFL classes for international guest professors and graduate students  worked for the California Department of Education as an Analyst/Consultant for the Immigrant Education Department based on the work I did with the Office of the California Community Colleges to carry out research for my honor's thesis at UC Berkeley entitled The Selective Society:  An Inquiry into the English Language/Civics Provision of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.

Before those forays into the institutional academic world, I absolutely loved teaching beginning piano for a decade from my parents' home.
